The Engineering Council's EngTech webpage describes the benefits of having the professional title 'EngTech' after your name and lists the typical qualifications for it; some case studies are linked to the page. Please note, you have to be a member of the Society (or a similar professional engineering institution) to gain EngTech and you have to be, or apply for, the grade of Associate (ARAeS) or above.
Though the Society does not have a list of approved UK qualifications, the Engineering Council will have an online searchable database of appropriate Level 3 qualifications and programmes by late 2010; contact the Society for further guidance. If your qualification was gained outside the UK, it might be an acceptable equivalent if it is listed under the Dublin Accord.
To gain EngTech you will have to demonstrate you have the competences and commitment set out in the Engineering Council's EngTech standard. Even without formal qualifications, you may apply for registration by demonstrating you have acquired the necessary competence through substantial working experience.
